The Pendleton Reserve Harding Rug in Oatmeal brings Pendleton's Harding pattern, which dates to 1923, to a hand-knotted wool rug. Rows of large stepped crosses outlined in taupe sit on a light oatmeal ground, tied together by bands of terra-cotta, red, and gold.

Design and Craftsmanship

Far from plain, the Harding is patterned edge to edge. Each cross frames a stylized taupe tree-like figure, and a warm band of terra-cotta, red, and gold runs straight through each row of crosses, with a smaller diamond set between them. Between the rows, blocks of small stacked triangles in red, gold, and terra-cotta alternate with slender columns of taupe triangles. Pendleton Reserve rugs are hand-knotted at about 80 knots per square inch from hand-spun New Zealand wool and colored with Swiss Chrome dyes, which gives the oatmeal ground a soft, variegated tone.

This rug comes in a range of sizes, including runners. The light ground keeps a room bright, which suits a cabin bedroom, a lodge entry, or a hallway lined with log or timber walls.
