Product Details

Before detachable quads, a chairlift was a slow ride with time to look around. Dwyer Mason puts a big bear and her cub on one, wooden skis dangling, and paints the whole sky gold behind them. The mother stares straight ahead with the patience of someone who has ridden this lift a thousand times. The cub sits close at her side.

Loose, quick snow below and a warm sky above make it one of the brightest pieces in the series. Ski house living room, over the couch.

About the Line

Marilynn Dwyer Mason was born and raised in southwest Montana and has drawn since childhood. She paints in pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pen and ink. Influenced by Philip Goodwin, John Singer Sargent, and Oliver Kemp, her work captures the nostalgia of early-twentieth-century outdoor life and the American West, including her Mason Bear series.

From her studio in Butte, Montana, her paintings are offered as giclée prints on canvas, hand stretched and set in birch bark and wild-harvested willow frames. Each frame is one of a kind.
