Product Details

A ski bum is someone who has arranged their whole life around the next run, and these three have clearly done it. They fill a red gondola swinging over a snowy mountainside, the big one leaning out the open front and two cubs peering from the windows behind.

Dwyer Mason paints the gondola in bold red against the pale snow and lake below, then lets the pines dissolve into loose strokes. The color does the work. It is a piece for a ski condo.

About the Line

Marilynn Dwyer Mason was born and raised in southwest Montana and has drawn since childhood. She paints in pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pen and ink. Influenced by Philip Goodwin, John Singer Sargent, and Oliver Kemp, her work captures the nostalgia of early-twentieth-century outdoor life and the American West, including her Mason Bear series.

From her studio in Butte, Montana, her paintings are offered as giclée prints on canvas, hand stretched and set in birch bark and wild-harvested willow frames. Each frame is one of a kind.
