Product Details

The toboggan is the oldest sled there is, and the fastest way to make a whole family scream at once. Dwyer Mason sends a grizzly and two cubs down a snowy hill on one, a striped blanket rolled at the front and a cub's scarf streaming out behind.

The painting is all motion: snow flies in loose white strokes. It carries the Montana winters she grew up with and her habit of letting bears have the fun. A kid's room or a north-country cabin suits it.

About the Line

Marilynn Dwyer Mason was born and raised in southwest Montana and has drawn since childhood. She paints in pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pen and ink. Influenced by Philip Goodwin, John Singer Sargent, and Oliver Kemp, her work captures the nostalgia of early-twentieth-century outdoor life and the American West, including her Mason Bear series.

From her studio in Butte, Montana, her paintings are offered as giclée prints on canvas, hand stretched and set in birch bark and wild-harvested willow frames. Each frame is one of a kind.
