Product Details

Two grizzlies stand wrapped in bright trade blankets before a painted tipi, one holding a bundle of feathers, both looking straight out with calm, steady eyes. Behind them the evening sky is a deep, saturated blue.

This is one of the boldest palettes in the line. Yellow, red, turquoise, and green run down the blankets in wide strokes, and the bears are painted with dignity rather than humor. Raised in southwest Montana, Dwyer Mason paints a West that includes its people as well as its wildlife.

About the Line

Marilynn Dwyer Mason was born and raised in southwest Montana and has drawn since childhood. She paints in pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pen and ink. Influenced by Philip Goodwin, John Singer Sargent, and Oliver Kemp, her work captures the nostalgia of early-twentieth-century outdoor life and the American West, including her Mason Bear series.

From her studio in Butte, Montana, her paintings are offered as giclée prints on canvas, hand stretched and set in birch bark and wild-harvested willow frames. Each frame is one of a kind.
