The Big Jump Giclee Print
Ski jumping drew big crowds in the early 1900s, and the daredevils on long wooden skis were the era's heroes. Dwyer Mason gives the jump to a grizzly, red bandanna at his throat and nose lifted to the wind, against a wall of white peaks.
The painting is fast and loose, closer to Sargent than to calendar art. Snow sprays off the skis in a few slashes of white, and the bear is built from movement rather than outline. Give it a wall with room around it.
