Product Details

The billiard room was where a grand lodge retreated after dinner, with a cigar, a drink, and a wager. Dwyer Mason gives the room to two grizzlies. One leans across the green felt to line up a shot, cigar clamped. The other waits with a cue, and the wait looks expensive.

Dark paneling, a round mirror, a camel figurine, and a red wall glow are painted with a loose hand and a warm palette. It shares a tradition with the poker-playing dogs and suits a game room.

About the Line

Marilynn Dwyer Mason was born and raised in southwest Montana and has drawn since childhood. She paints in pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pen and ink. Influenced by Philip Goodwin, John Singer Sargent, and Oliver Kemp, her work captures the nostalgia of early-twentieth-century outdoor life and the American West, including her Mason Bear series.

From her studio in Butte, Montana, her paintings are offered as giclée prints on canvas, hand stretched and set in birch bark and wild-harvested willow frames. Each frame is one of a kind.
