Product Details

Three dogs, a wood-sided wagon, and a canoe on the roof: this is the whole promise of a summer in the country, painted without a single bear. A yellow Lab lies in the back beside a small terrier, and a golden retriever sits in the grass below, waiting for someone to say the word.

The wagon and canoe belong to the lake-country world of the Mason Bears. Her brush is soft in the grass and precise in the faces, and the mood is a day with nothing on the calendar.

About the Line

Marilynn Dwyer Mason was born and raised in southwest Montana and has drawn since childhood. She paints in pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pen and ink. Influenced by Philip Goodwin, John Singer Sargent, and Oliver Kemp, her work captures the nostalgia of early-twentieth-century outdoor life and the American West, including her Mason Bear series.

From her studio in Butte, Montana, her paintings are offered as giclée prints on canvas, hand stretched and set in birch bark and wild-harvested willow frames. Each frame is one of a kind.
