Product Details

Five grizzlies sit around a poker table in a dim log cabin, chips stacked, cards in paw, smoke hanging under an antler chandelier. One leans back with a look that says he has the hand.

Dwyer Mason is nodding to the dogs-playing-poker paintings that hung in taverns and dens for much of the last century, and she raises the stakes by making the players bears. Each face reads the table differently, and the felt glows green in the warm, low light. Made for a game room or a lodge bar.

About the Line

Marilynn Dwyer Mason was born and raised in southwest Montana and has drawn since childhood. She paints in pastel, watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pen and ink. Influenced by Philip Goodwin, John Singer Sargent, and Oliver Kemp, her work captures the nostalgia of early-twentieth-century outdoor life and the American West, including her Mason Bear series.

From her studio in Butte, Montana, her paintings are offered as giclée prints on canvas, hand stretched and set in birch bark and wild-harvested willow frames. Each frame is one of a kind.
